How do I know if I need an Air Ambulance or Medical Escort?

The patient’s condition and medical needs during transportation will determine whether travel on a commercial flight is possible or an Air Ambulance is necessary. Airlines require patients to be medically cleared before allowing them to board a commercial flight. Diverting a flight due to an in-flight medical emergency is very expensive and disruptive to airline operations. Airlines are not equipped to transport patients who require medical care during flight. Consequently, patients who are too unstable or not ambulatory will not be able to travel on a commercial passenger flight, even with a Medical Escort. We can help patients determine the most appropriate mode of transportation.
