GLOBAL MEDICAL AIR TRANSPORT

Qualifications of First Air’s medical staff include:

Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) & Basic Life Support (BLS)
All members of our staff are required to be certified and remain current in CPR & BLS. These certifications teach how to perform CPR on infants, children, and adults, the use of automated external defibrillators (AEDs), and techniques to avoid the spread of pathogens (viruses, bacteria & parasites).

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

ACLS teaches the emergency treatment of cardiac arrest, stroke, or other life-threatening conditions including airway management, identifying cardiac rhythms, defibrillation, use of intravenous cardiac medications, and following standard protocols for treating cardiac arrest and abnormal rhythms.

Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
The PALS course improves outcomes for pediatric patients by preparing healthcare providers to effectively recognize and intervene in pediatric patients with respiratory emergencies, shock, and cardiopulmonary arrest by using high‐performance team dynamics and high‐quality individual skills.

Certified Flight Registered Nurse (CFRN)
A CFRN is a registered nurse who has demonstrated their proficiency in providing medical care during air transport. A CFRN must hold a current RN license and pass the CFRN examination, which validates skills in advanced critical care, emergency response, and working in a high-stress, limited-resource environment during flight.

Certified Flight Paramedic (FP-C)
FP-C is an experienced paramedic who works in critical care or flight transport roles. In addition to mastering the life-saving skills of a paramedic, an FP-C must be proficient in patient transport, medical emergencies, and trauma and pass the FC-P examination. An FP-C is considered the highest level of academic achievement obtainable by a paramedic.

Emergency Physician
Emergency Physicians diagnose and stabilize patients, perform procedures, and coordinate care for a wide range of medical emergencies in both adult and pediatric patients. This requires extensive training, including four years of college, four years of medical school, a four year residency in emergency medicine, and passing the American Board of Emergency Medicine Board examination.

Specialty Physician
Specialty physicians have completed additional training after medical school in a specific area of medicine, such as cardiology, gastroenterology or neurology. They focus on diagnosing, managing, and treating a particular group of diseases, conditions, or organ systems, providing a higher level of expertise than a primary care physician for more complex issues.
